Observations & Artifacts
Thompson School District Protocol in Accordance with 1-CCR-301-87 (5.1).
Observations shall be on a regular basis and of such frequency and duration as to ensure that reliable conclusions and findings may be drawn.
Probationary teachers/SSPs: Shall be observed on at least three (3) occasions that total at least 60 minutes when combined with feedback. Observation feedback shall be provided promptly and in a face-to-face manner when possible. RANDA will be updated by the evaluator.
Non-Probationary teachers/SSPs: Shall be observed on at least one occasion of at least 20 minutes when combined with feedback. Observation feedback shall be provided promptly and in a face-to-face manner when possible. RANDA will be updated by the evaluator.
Principals: A Principal’s body of evidence may include observations. Observation feedback shall be provided promptly and in a face-to face manner whenever possible. RANDA will be updated by the evaluator.
Professional Practice Artifacts
Agreement on Professional Practices
Purposeful evaluations result from co-constructed understanding of the professional practices and agreement on the artifacts that may be used to demonstrate that a professional practice is evident. Shared understanding is especially important for professional practices that are not observable, or may not have been observed. The State Model Evaluation System User’s Guide provides examples of artifacts that may be used as evidence of a professional practice. Though artifacts may be provided and aligned to professional practices, the Evaluator is authorized to determine an artifact’s influence on the Evaluator Assessment Rubric.
