While many of us might think of cloud provider outages as “tech company problems,” they are reminders for our K-12 world — teachers, district leaders, and students and staff alike — that our digital ecosystem is deeply interconnected and dependent on external vendor-partners in ways that directly impact teaching, learning, and assessment.
In today’s connected world, helping students navigate technology with empathy, responsibility, and critical thinking is essential. This post explores how Thompson School District supports teachers in fostering digital citizenship—both online and offline. It highlights strategies for integrating digital citizenship into everyday learning, building teacher understanding, and partnering with families to extend these conversations at home. As we celebrate Digital Citizenship Week, October 20–24, we invite educators and families to work together in guiding students to become responsible, reflective digital citizens.
The Ed Tech team is expanding opportunities for teachers and staff to earn credit through a wide range of professional learning events as part of the TSD Ed Tech Redefining Learning series.
On June 3, 2025, the TSD district hosted Technanigans, an educational technology event that brought together nearly 200 educators from across Colorado. The day focused on learning, collaboration, and innovation.
